<< As reported by the Palm Beach Post, the Democratic Club of Greater Boynton Beach got the candidates' numbers mixed up in their voting recommendation published in its November newsletter to members. A few days prior to the election, according to the Post, the club issued postcards headlined &quot;Oops!&quot; which explained that members had been incorrectly instructed to &quot;punch #3 for Al Gore&quot; but that number 3 would actually be a vote for Republican George Bush. The postcard further instructed members they should &quot;punch #5 for Al Gore.&quot; >>

I read the article, and I'm floored. It reaffirms a story I heard on the radio right after the election where a senior citizen complained that on the bus ride from the condo to the polls, they were told to &quot;punch the second hole&quot;, and after everyone got home they found out that was not the right thing to do to vote for Gore. I figured that was some desperate story concocted to help justify re-voting, since I couldn't imagine someone willingly admitting that they should get a second chance because the person who told them how to vote gave them bad information. Now it seems that was exactly what was happening.

I know it was said a million times, but let's have a little personal responsibility here. You, and only you, are responsible for casting your vote.

After hearing this, I think there'll be many, many volunteers to drive the buses for the next election. Just stand up and tell them what to do, and you're all set. Drive the bus = get 80 votes your way.

The advertised ballot was different from the actual ballot. It was changed. That was the cause of the confusion.

You might as well train monkeys to vote for a button. If the senior citizens vote for whoever their leader tells them to, how is that giving each individual a vote? You might as well give the few community leaders a thousand ballots to punch themselves.
