Palit 4850 Sonic

They don't sell in the US (anymore). Gainward and Sparkle are two companies that I'd really like to see in the US market. Too many reference board partners on both sides. Europe can take Diamond or PowerColor in return for Gainward for all I care (and any of the several dozen generic NV vendors in exchange for Sparkle).

Fwiw, if you really want a dual slot cooler, HIS just released an IceQ version of the 4850.

Almost like those Zalman coolers, or the 7800/7900 GTX/GTO coolers (sans some heatpipes).

I had a Gainward FX 5600 Ultra BITD that might have been a Golden Sample. It was one of the few guaranteed "flip chip" versions that were clocked higher.

Funny, I'm using NoScript and ABP and I don't have that problem. Maybe get a better browser/ad blocker? 🙂

Turn off No Script 😉

In addition to the nice cooler, Palit's revamped the power to a 3-phase GPU and 1-Phase memory PWM setup, and the card takes a single 8-pin connector.

Will this card be 700+ overclockable?? Just noticed, his GPU max shows 735 on the CCC screen..

I wonder how this will affect OCing. With only 1x8pin connector and a revamped circuit I don't think this will take kindly to bios flashing (unless someone modifies the current BIOS) so if you want to flash beyond the 735mhz CCC limitation you might be out of luck- I could be totally wrong though.

It was damn cool of ATI to keep the gpu's full feature set enabled. It's very, very refreshing to see board partners able and willing to move beyond reference design. I hope others follow suit.

The 4850 with the right tweaks.. exciting stuff IMO.
