Is anyone really surprised that Ms Palin gets as much attention as she does?
1. Mr McCain brought her to the national stage by chosing her for his VP nominee in a hope to pick up some of the apparently pissed off Ms Clinton supporters.
2. She was a big hit with the GOP base and after the 2008 GOP convention, Mr McCain's polls indicated he was within stiking distance of Mr Obama. Mr McCain had been trailing in the polls for months before.
3. Ms Palin's interviews showed her not to be that knowledgeable on most national and global issues. This freaked out some people but it endeared her with the GOP base.
4. In October 2008, the economy collapsed which guaranteed that the GOP would lose.
5. Ms Palin is currently one of the leaders in the GOP.
I think that people would complain if the media ignored her and people complain when the media reports what she says.
Heh. The so-called "conservatives" trying to disown her today are the same people who prayed for her to be their savior in 2008, promoted and funded the Cult of the Sarah! Sarah!
McCain? He knew he'd been suckered into supporting the Bushistas in 2004, given that they crashed the economy and bungled 2 wars, and that they never even showed up at the Convention. Yeh, they promised him the 2008 nomination, they just forgot to tell him that it'd be like trying to swim with an anchor from the USS Iowa. He needed something, anything, to divert attention from that, and to energize his base, so he chose Palin. It was quite calculated, in a desperate sort of way.
She used that, with some help from the Repub money machine, to launch herself into the realm of big money thru big attention. I really think she exemplifies the thinking of the Repub base, which makes her so popular and effective. Her popularity is down ATM, but she'll be baaack, bet on it. She's a persona of the Rightwing noise machine, like Rush, Hannity & etc, part of their constellation of stars.
She's like some of our contributors, raving know-nothings, and she's proud to be one.
