Gov. Palin's sister-in-law arrested
Published: April 3, 2009 at 8:30 PM

WASILLA, Alaska, April 3 (UPI) -- A woman identified as a sister-in-law of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a home this week to steal money, police said.

Diana Palin, 35, the half-sister of Gov. Palin's husband, Todd Palin, was arrested Thursday, the Anchorage (Alaska) Daily News reported Friday. Police said Diana Palin broke into a Wasilla, Alaska, home twice -- stealing $400 Tuesday and returning Thursday.

The report did not say whether anything was taken in the second alleged break-in.

Diana Palin faces a felony first-degree burglary charge as well as misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and theft, police said. She was being held Friday in lieu of $10,000 bail and was awaiting court approval of a third-party custodian, the newspaper said.

Her husband, Scott McLean, said Friday his wife was a stay-at-home mom to the couple's two young children, and he did not know why she might have done what she is accused of doing. McLean told the Daily News police called him Thursday morning and asked him to come pick up the couple's 4-year-old daughter.

Todd Palin declined comment, the newspaper said.

Just another diversion from the daily doom and gloom that makes news these days!

Yeah I know, who cares, but what amazes me is the values of the extended family, and prospective in-laws, that Gov Palin comes from. And to think she would have been a heartbeat way from the Presidency?

It's also fun watching her get embarrassed by those around her as much as she embarrasses herself.

I disagree. This is entertainment news, family values news.

George W Bush is Obama's 11th cousin. It's amazing the kind of values obama's extended family comes from. I'm so outraged, I think I'll start a thread. I'll post about it in jest as if it doesn't really matter to me in hopes that the thread will catch on and incite a riot, but I'll be happy if it just ends up as a bash obama circle jerk. This will help allay my own feelings of inadequacy.

my blood pressure's gone way down since I stopped caring about all things Palin ;)

she's some broad who ran for the least important public office in the country and fell on her face. she's probably going to make an unsuccessful run in the 2012 primaries, but who gives a shit until then?

Then you really should stop reading these threads, instead of continuing to mitigate the hypocrisy of republicans...

More useless trivia:

Bristol Palin's ex-fiance cites tension with her

Levi Johnston says ex-fiance Bristol Palin, daughter of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, allows him to visit their 3-month-old son but won't let him take the baby out.

In an interview to air Monday with talk show host Tyra Banks, Johnston, 19, said he and 18-year-old Bristol don't always get along.

"Some days we can have regular conversations without fighting," Johnston said. "Most of the times, I don't know what's wrong with her. She's in a pretty bad mood, she's short, she doesn't want me around, I don't think. She says that I can come see the baby and that kind of thing, but won't let me take him anywhere."

The two are the parents of an infant son, Tripp, born on Dec. 27.

Palin family spokeswoman Meghan Stapleton said Bristol Palin was unaware Johnston would be appearing on "The Tyra Banks Show," along with his mother, Sherry, and sister, Mercede.

"We're disappointed that Levi and his family, in a quest for fame, attention and fortune, are engaging in flat-out lies, gross exaggeration, and even distortion of their relationship," Stapleton said in a statement Friday.

Stapleton has said Bristol Palin isn't preventing anyone from seeing the baby, and that Johnston sees his son "whenever he wants, the family sees the baby whenever they want."

Johnston told The Associated Press on March 11 that the couple had broken off their engagement. He has said they needed time to grow up before following through on marriage plans.

In the interview with Banks, Johnston said the Alaska governor probably knew he and Bristol were having sex. "Moms are pretty smart," he said.

Sarah Palin announced her daughter's pregnancy on Sept. 1, days after Sen. John McCain picked her to be his Republican vice presidential running mate. Johnston later appeared at the Republican National Convention with the Palins.

Johnston told Banks he went to the convention at Bristol's request, but he wasn't thrilled to attend it. "I felt out of place," he said.

Asked whom he'd vote for in 2012 if the choice were President Barack Obama or the Alaska governor, he said: "I still think I'm going to have to vote for Sarah Palin."

Please understand, we are talking Alaska here, the land of the midnight sun is all well and fine on June 21, but its also the land of the midday dark on
Dec 21. Maybe Diana just got confused in the dark, and entered the wrong house. A typical Goldielocks type mistake.

What would a half sister on her husbands side have to do exactly with her? And how would her "values" in any shape or form have anything to do with Palin's? did they grow up in the same household? Do they share the same parents? I didnt think so.

So am I to understand that anything done by an extended family of well-known politician should not be dragged out by either side?

Who determines its newsworthy?

Palin grabbed the with the über-christian morals by the balls and ran with it so anything that is considered immoral in her family is news.

Good thing for Levi and Bristol that she didn't win or they'd be married now.

Personally, i think she should change her name from Bristol to Las Vegas, gambled and failed.

if a story would receive significant state-wide or national coverage without the relationship, it's newsworthy.

run of the mill B&E's don't receive much more coverage than a line in the police blotter if anything here.
