Palestinians KILL international observers

<< JERUSALEM - Two Norwegian observers from an international force in Hebron were shot and killed when Palestinians opened fire on their car in the West Bank on Tuesday, the Israeli military said.

The observers, serving in the Temporary International Presence in Hebron, were driving on a bypass road used mostly by Jewish settlers when their car came under fire near Halhoul, a West Bank town north of Hebron.

The two were the first members of the force to be killed in the West Bank. A third observer was slightly wounded, the military said.

There was no immediate word from the peace force.

The force, made up of unarmed observers from Scandinavian and European countries, was set up under a 1997 agreement dividing Hebron into Palestinian- and Israeli-controlled zones.

The city was divided because about 450 Israeli settlers live in three enclaves in the center of the city, among some 130,000 Palestinians. The observers, recognizable by their clearly marked white cars, make periodic reports about violations of the truce.

Settlers charge that the observers are biased against them, while Palestinians say that the settlers, among the most militant in the West Bank, constantly harass the local Palestinians.

Yeah, umm, I guess they had it coming for occupying the road

(note that I usually wouldnt link this-but theres a trend towards posting every article mentioning deaths "caused" by the IDF-this seems beyond that scope)

I've yet to verify this myself, but probably a good balance - the Palestinians are every bit as passionate and murderous, while the IDF are every bit as callous and murderous...

check CNN.com, it's a "developing story".

I'm wondering, though, what kind of reaction this will get, since this isn't your 'typical' "Palestinians shoot at car, 2 teenage Israeli girls killed, one wounded"

Bear in mind also that a lot of Israeli mind-games are going on here. Mossad have a lot of agents working inside Palestinian/Arab cells deliberately causing actions counter-productive to the Palestinian/Arab cause. The Palestinians and the Arabs, unfortunately, largely do not have the skills or possibly the resources to counter this intrusion - you'd think they would get a clue wouldn't you.

A Mossad agent is commented upon: "Because he was uncircumcised, his cover was never blown."

None of the above is a joke but I think it deserves a titter.

It's one thing to play mind games, it's quite another to shoot at your own people. I'm as sure that the Mossad would NOT send agents to kill Israelis as you seem to be that they would "play mind games". Let's meet halfway-could Mossad theoretically be "playing mind games"? sure. Would they have their agents killing Israelis or telling other people to do so? No.

So therefore the question remains-what kind of response will this get, since it wasnt simply "illegal settlers" who were killed this time...

dare I ask if your comments are in reference to the Palestinian actions, the theory that Mossad is involved, or my "rebuttal" (there really is none if that's what you believe)?
