Who would have thunk??
Possibly all this talk about an Arab coalition going to the UN to seek a state of Palestine was just that...all talk....smoke and mirrors...etc....

I find this ironic when all the pro-Palestinians on this baord have accused israel of being disengenuous when talking about peace...

RAMALLAH, West Bank – The Palestinians on Saturday accepted a French invitation to attend a conference in Paris aimed at reviving peace talks with Israel, as their strategy to bypass negotiations and seek U.N. recognition of a Palestinian state appeared to be unraveling.

I fail to understand why JEDIY thinks this is an Israeli victory. If Israel tries to torpedo talks by making outrageous demands, The French are likely to place blame squarely on Israel. As future peace infinitives are increasingly unlikely to be US brokered. And if Israel is seen as the villain, it helps the Pales case for Statehood in September.

And who knows, Israel may not even attend.

The other thing to point, when talks broke off last September over Israel's refusal to extend the settlement freeze, there were still 365 days until 9/2011, now its down to less than a 100. As the USA is now lost all control of the process.

"we want you to recognize israel as a jewish state" by your standard is outrageous.

Here we go again same ole stuff again...marching down the avenue....lol

Did I say it was an Israeli victory?? YES or No??
You talk about torpedoing the talks by making outrageous demands....wake up...look at the Palestinians wanting everything and willing to give nothing in return.
Hell the Palestinian even if they get everything they want are not even willing to guarantee peace. They say they cannot control those who would attack Israel...interesting!!

See you are predicting a Palestinian state in September...that is so very sad...even the President of the UN General Assembly said that unless the Palestinian bid for statehood gets by the Security council it will not happen.

The US will veto any such attempt for statehood. Circumstances are not going to change.

Your other point is pure foolishness....it was the Palestinians who never had any intention of talking with israel concerning the settlements....

We will all see the impact in the future, and not at the present time. To some extent, its perhaps the last chance to revive a mutually negotiated settlement.
