I have friend that's starting a job as a pharmacist in Palestine Texas. Could anyone familiar with the area make housing suggestions? Areas to avoid? She's looking for a 1 bedroom apartment.

A five minute visit to the local PD will identify areas of the city

As for initial housing suggestions, asking a coworker is best. They will know where to look.

Hick universities: a community college and a branch campus of the of the worst schools in the UT system.

Hicks will go to university because they get paid to go because they are poor. They will complete the degree because hick-schools are degree mills that are "student centric" meaning "show up and pass"

Palestine is a small city with about 18K people in NE of TX. Closest large city is Dallas, about 1.5 hours away.

She's looking for a safe place I suppose like a gated apartment complex or small townhouse. As for fun she knows it's a hick town which is why she'll be going to Dallas on the weekend for adventures and friends.
