This is Firefox on Steroids! the fastest browser I've ever used and all Firefox addons can be installed seamlessly

Its interface is a bit better than Firefox IMHO

Why settle for a basic build of your Firefox browser on Windows Operating Systems when you can have one that performs 25% faster? Mozilla does not provide optimized browser packages for Windows, while many Linux ("from scratch") users get the advantage of a browser built specifically for their system. That needs to change! So, here is the Pale Moon project: Custom-built and optimized Firefox browsers for Windows Operating Systems. Make sure to get the most speed out of your browser!

Of course, getting a faster browser is not just about optimizing the compilation process (building a program from its source code), but also about carefully choosing features and how to choose the best setup. This means that this browser, however extremely close to Firefox, does not have all the functions that Firefox has. A few, carefully selected, features have been disabled that are not in high demand, and that do not interfere with the way web pages are displayed or function; all to maximize speed and efficiency of the browser. Please see the page with technical details to learn exactly what the browser supports, and what it doesn't support. In short, if you need accessibility features or parental controls, then please visit the Firefox homepage and get the official, non-optimized build.

Release notes:

  • Switch to a new Mozilla code base (Gecko 24.0).
  • Update of the Pale Moon icon/logo. Special thanks go to Roger Gómez del Casal for providing me with an interesting concept design image to use as a base for it!
  • Fixes for all relevant security vulnerabilities.
  • Many changes and updates in the rendering, scripting and parsing back-end to provide significant improvements in overall browser performance (including benchmark scores).
  • Addition of a number of HTML5 elements, improving overall HTML5 standards compliance.
  • Implementation of the webaudio API (most features that are no longer draft).
  • Removal of Tab Groups (Panorama). If you actively used this functionality, I have also made an add-on (Mozilla dev sourced) available to restore this feature to the browser.
  • Removal of a few additional Accessibility options.
  • Inclusion of an updated version of the Add-on SDK and loader to solve recent issues with SDK/Jetpack add-ons.
  • Adjustment of the Quickdial "new tab" feature to have better layout.
  • Extension of the address bar shading functionality to more clearly indicate when there is a problem with a secure site (red shading on broken SSL/mixed content).
  • New way of handling plugins with control on a per-site basis. An extensive description can be found on the forum.
  • Restored/maintained a number of features that were removed from recent Firefox versions:
    • Graphical tab switching feature with quick search (Ctrl+Shift+Tab).
    • Removing the tab bar if there is only one tab present.
    • Options for the loading of images.
    • More recovery options in the Safe Mode startup dialog box than just nuking your profile.
    • Send Link/E-mail Link mail client integration functionality.
  • Unification of version numbers. x86 and x64 will from this point forward use the same version number (and icon) without an architecture designation. This will solve potential compatibility issues on new major versions, as well as the superfluous compatibility check when switching between x86 and x64 on the same profile.

Thanks for the heads up. I really need to reinstall PaleMoon and give it a longer trial. I like the fact that the tabs are below the address bar yet you still have the option to make them on top like Firefox. I love options!

For those that want to try the 64 bit version you should probably read about the potential drawbacks before installing. http://www.palemoon.org/palemoon-x64.shtml

Interesting post from the Pale Moon forums:

Most of the difference is attributed to the large performance increases of FF 21, 22 & 23, every bit makes a difference however.
I did say people were up for a surprise once 24 hit, I've been watching FF speed up with each release and it's still getting better.

Hey MC, I saw this comment over at Neowin.

"I like it but I switched to firefox because RES didn't work with palemoon. Now it works since they updated the code base but StickyPassword doesn't"
Is there anything that can be improved there?

MC how did you add so much to HTML5? And why can't Mozilla do that? 444 points in HTML5test is awesome, that's higher than Nightly!
Definitely the best Pale Moon yet, I'm gonna give it a good showdown vs Firefox, Cyberfox and Tete's at some stage.
