Well, the DVD player will no doubt flip between PAL & NTSC, but you should check this if possible. Your TV will have to cope with whatever signal the DVD player spits out, so it would need to handle PAL in this case. Stand alone PAL<>NTSC conversion kit usually expensive, so having equipment that does each native is hella cheaper.
This is usually the case now beacuse all TV and DVD IC's are world market parts with the relevant defaults set. For example, my Philips DVD player has around 7 different Manufacturer menu and backdrop GFX and settings for each region that those models would go to. When haxoring it to be fully unlocked it bacame a LOEWE Systems unit, a high end German make.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. It can and does happen, although it is very rare 😉
