PAL NTSC What does these mean?

I am starting to edit simple VHS tapes through my new hardware capture system ( ADVC-100). What do these terms mean and do I care? what are nomal VHS tapes? vs. lets say my VHS-C tape.

I dont kno much but PAL and NTSC are different TV standards (or more that maybe). In America, TVs are made to the NTSC standard and in Asia/Europe according to the PAL standard. In American TVs, is Fox is on channel 13, then all thru the cable service providers area, it will be on 13. In PAL, u can actually tune in different channels according to ur preference. Thats what I think atleast ... search the internet if u wanna know for sure.
