How to Drive Safely
Many drivers do not exude confidence when they are behind the wheel by constantly stepping on their breaks. I always maintain my distance from nervous, insecure drivers.
Things You'll Need

vehicle, confidence
Instructions

STEP 1: Position yourself comfortably in your vehicle. Adjust the mirrors, seat and temperature.
STEP 2: Press your foot on the gas pedal, and try not to unnecessarily step on your break. If you are stepping on your break too many times, perhaps you should consider maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you. Constantly stepping on your breaks makes you look like an insecure driver.
STEP 3: You should be able to come to a complete stop, if required. There should be sufficient distance between your car and the car in front of you, so that you are not forced to rearend the vehicle.
STEP 4: Drive the speed limit or above.
Tips & Warnings

Don't be afraid of other vehicles around you.
Quit stepping on those breaks for NO REASON!
Please try driving AT LEAST the speed limit. We have places to be; people to see.
Do NOT fear cops. Keep driving the speed limit.
Move away from drivers that are constantly stepping on their breaks. They are insecure. They cause accidents.

this reminds me of the fiasco i had getting my license when I lived in New Delhi for a year. I was doing an internship there for a semester/summer, and my dad was posted there on a diplomatic assignment. on the basis of his diplomatic status there, I was supposed to be able to just get a New Delhi driver's license based on my USA license, without a test or anything. Trying to explain this to the head of the licensing office was a futile endeavor, so i said fuck it, how hard can it be, and sat down to take the 20 question written test, after which I could get a license. (over 21, so I didn't need to get a learner's permit first).

Most of the questions were straightforward, with a few that I wasn't sure about regarding one way bridges, traffic circles, etc.

The last question was as follows:

You come to a red light and stop. The light is red for a while and you get tired of waiting. What should you do?
A) Wait Patiently
B) Make a left turn, a U turn, and another left turn to continue on your way
C) Honk your horn to attract the attention of a police officer
D) Drive through the red light

Being brought up in the US, i recognized this as a very simple question, with a very simple answer, so I marked A) wait patiently.

I get my score back and I missed the cutoff by one point. the correct answer was (D).

Of course, I went back the next day with a letter from my dad's work and my govt issued diplomatic card and he begrudgingly had to give it to me anyway :D

Is this an official pakistan gov doc saying go AT LEAST the speed limit? WIN

I hate people who hit brakes too much. Like for example I've seen a car with no other cars around it hit brakes on a flat piece of highway. Fvck that, don't drive again.

The bigger message is to leave space between you and the vehicle in front of you so you don't have to use the brakes as much, like if traffic is merging, or if someone needs to change lanes they can do so without making you come to a complete stop. Sounds like the same thing people in the US have problems with...

"Please try driving AT LEAST the speed limit have places to be; people to see."

This is brilliant. I wished the UK Government would adopt this stance on speed limits.

Driving is so relative. Cool story below

I failed my first drivers test simply because I did not come to a complete stop before crossing over railroad tracks.

I failed my second drivers test because I made a complete stop before crossing railroad tracks and instructor accused me of obstructing the flow of traffic.

There is a reason why car accidents rates the highest death rate for accidental deaths.

That reason being that it's the most common? I sure precentwise, a few other accidents have higher mortality rates.

I wonder if they have a problem with tailgating or if people are just randomly braking in the streets.
