-- Provide the United States with intelligence on bin Laden and the Taliban

-- Close its border with Afghanistan

-- Stop fuel supplies to the Taliban

-- Allow, if requested, U.S. warplanes access to Pakistani airspace

Those are the United States' demands right now.

and that would be the sound of the nail being driven into Afghanistans coffin - if they don't surrender up the bastard hiding in there anyway. They NEED Pakistan to survive at all.

According to news reports this morning [Sat 15th] they have agreed to let the US and it's Allies to use ground troops.

Now, we must convince the Russians to let us deploy from bases within the former Soviet Block countries. They have said no so far. Although theses countries are now independent, the Russians still hold considerable influence there and it would be a neccessity for overfly privileges,

What if this is all a setup? Could that be possible? I mean say yeah let our troops go in there, and then when they arrive after thats all said and done, BAM one big bomb dropped and a whole load of our troops, gone.

What do you think?

<< But they denied our request to use their lands for our ground troop operation. :( >>

They can't afford to let the US use their land... they have so many factions in the country that are supporting the Talibans..

US should take up India's offer to set up base there and use Pakistan's airspace.

I have been thinking the very same thing.... Too many countries that we never hear from are coming forward... I honestly have been wondering that very same thing myself... PLus the other countires are giving us certain privledges but not with out limitations.. But who knows I guess all we can do is wait and see...

That would just be too stupid for them to do. Our response would be unbelievable.

Actually I believe they are allowing ground troops, as long as they aren't just from the US. Pakistani newspapers said two planes carrying US Special Ops landed in Pakistan already. A pakistan diplomat allegedly confirmed two US planes landing.

Yeah Im worried about it being a setup in regards to Iran and Pakistan. Russia on the other hand is gonna help, eventually they will let us use their space.

US cannot use India because Kashmir is full of Pakistan and Afghanistan trained militants and the part of Kashmir bordering Afghanistan is under Pakistan control anyways...
:(

Pakistan should have been declared a terrorist nation long ago!!!

Pakistan OKs U.S. Demands

Concerned about tension in the orthodox Islamic community at home and elsewhere, Pakistan sought assurances that the ground troops would be multinational, not only American, the source said.

the troops had better be on guard coz pakistan is the only country that recognizes the taliban and in fact was responsible for bringing it to power in afghanistan.

that would be incredibly stupid of them to do. Unless we send all of our troops out(which we wouldn't do) we would come in with a second wave and kick some ass...

There are actually 3 countries that recognize the Taliban as the official government... Pakistan, Saudi Arabia (I think), and some other country.

Why would we want intel from Russia? Do you honestly think that Russia has better intel than the U.S.?

his is exactly the ignorance some of our intelligence policies. The belief that High-tech intelligence is superior than human intelligence.

I can't say that I totally disagree with not letting us use their lands. They might be scared that after this is over, we might somehow try to influence the whole "Kashmir" region, and force a decision with India. But none the less, having thier support is CRUCIAL due to their borders with Afghanistan.

I for one, am happy.

This is a MASSIVE step for Pakistan and I am very very pleased by it. If Pakistan instead decided to appease the Taliban-sympathizes in its population - of whom there are many - and say screw Nato i don't want to think where it could go. This is a great step for the proceedings and if we're all lucky it will get no larger than world vs. afghanistan.

nicowju United arab emirites is the other country...

BTW this isn't a setup by pakistan. Don't even worry about that people :)

We don't need any friggin permission to fly over any airspace. These countries know whats going on.What are they going to do, shoot rockets at us? Give me a break. This is a stall to mobilize our troops and equipment into place. If tomorrow we fly sorties over Iran to take out targets in Afganistan, what the hell do you think Iran is going to do? NOTHING> they will cry and bitch and if they dont like it,we can definettly get retribution for their Hostage taking and support for taliban and terrorist activities that are documented by our intelligence survelience.

In 7 days all hell is going to break loose in the middle east. Taliban is first target, and I can assure you there are secondary targets.

Not likely you will see our country play by a rule book. There are no rules in war, not this one. If the foe does not play by the rules, we don't either.

Suits me just fine.

Still think I'm a liberal?
