Paitning restore furniture question(s)

I recently undertook a prject or 2 to restore some old furniture my family had laying around to use in my daughters bedroom.

Everything is done except for the finishing. It's been primed and I'm just finishing up the paint. However I was wondering do I need to apply a Poly coat on it? Or can it stand alone with with just primer/paint?

I've never heard of using polyurethane over paint. You typically only use it over stained wood.

Maybe Poly was the wrong word... isn't there some sort of "clear coat" for paint?

Gloss paint is fine, but Minwax does make some clear coat for paint

Used a semigloss...should suffice
