alright my last thread for the night...and yes i realize there is an olympic thread, but this was a general non athletic achievment that I found so laudable and would be overlooked by most people who didn't stay up till midnight hoping to watching a real sport on the taped broadcast on NBC.
Cliffs:
Russian pair salts away gold, Chinese pair in 2nd starts their final run with this huge ass quadruple throw thing where the guy hucks the girl, she can't make it all the way and smashes her ankle on the ice and program stops as she is carried off, they are allowed to continue and do the rest perfectly, end up in 2nd overall and win silver medal anyways.

First time I actually was impressed and pleased by an otherwise fake sport.
 
what really looked like it hurt (i winced) was the fall they showed of Tatyana Totmiyanina took in 2004: toss up to a face plant and knocked unconscious. and now they've got the gold :thumbsup:

i'm such a sucker for these stories 🙂
