The hell are you talking about? Just because the deal is dead, doesn't mean the thread is dead... Do a little more reading here newbie, and you will understand how things are.:disgust:

newbie hahaah. oh and I did read about it. I was saying the title should have dead in it somewhere so no one has to read all the yammering to find out it is dead. Thanks for being the hall monitor ...though. Yippy protect me from myself.

I can tell you that at 1.4vcore I can't get this setup to post. But it posts fine at 120. With 35C cpu in bios. And 1 gig 3200 ram. And Antec 550 psu.

O yeah and with ebay 2.8 IWT xeon cpu hsf's.

Any ideas?

I know no-one was able to convince you of this in the last thread you showed yourself in, but you are not and I repeat are not a moderator. Don't act like one.

Has anyone been able to get a Windows XP installed on an 160 GB SATA drive on a ASUS PC-DL motherboard? It would try to format, but never completes.

Thanks for replying. It was an OEM Maxtor Drive and I just booted up to allow XP for partition and format the drive, but it dumped out.

I will download the Maxtor tools and give that a try. Thanks.

Ok I was wondering how many people who read this forum bougth these CPUs???? I know I got a couple pair of these.. Who else????

(OFF TOPIC - Hmm now what linux distro to use for the Dual Xeon PC-DL ... Onboard SATA, Onboard Gigabit, and an ATi 8500 ... I could give 2 shits about the onboard sound)

Gentoo Linux. Hands down... if you want power... it's the only option. MAKEOPTS="-j3" (or if ht) MAKEOPTS="-j5" and you're set 😛

you might also want some CFLAGS like

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium4 -mcpu=pentium4 -mfpmath=sse -msse2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fprefetch-loop-arrays -pipe"

(some of that may be redundant)

and some USE flag tweaks. Speaking of which I know mmx and sse exist, but would it be the right thing to do to put in mmx2 and sse2 because I imagine they would be used soon if not yet? Can't hurt I guess

I got two pairs. Was going to pick the best and sell the worst pair. Neither pair sucks tho. And I don't think I am going to part with them!

-830 to -834;-0166 to -0173 ;-516 -517 are what i have left.
anyone thinking quad should let me know asap i also have an unmatched -0441.
in previous dual setups ive noticed sequential #S ARENT necessary and important thing is matched voltage.

i have to repack them. im selling what i cAN SPARE FOR 125$ Reason is to keep thread going for awhile as there are many untested possibilities. id guess mopre will be available eventually- probably the day after everyone loses interest

These are DP, only MP are quad capable. Unless you know a mod that noone over at 2cpu knows?

Sequential is not nessasarry... but if you have the option...

YGPM about something other than me wanting a pair
