some people think that a non-mp quad can have some of the pizzaz of an mp.
if numbers are sequential, compatibility is enhanced- like any other semiconductor.
i dont know what ygpm is
 
I pretty sure you can't just plug in 4 DP xeons in a quad board (can't say I actually tried it either). I wouldn't say it is impossible, in fact I wouldn't be suprised at all if someone discovers a way to mod them. Pokipoki started a thread here:

mike lin has a crude load leveling program for windows called smp seesaw-download at his home page

a more ambitious linux program for >2 processors is also there. this will never be true smp but it can be close if you generally do a lot of one type of work graphics cadcam etc

Well, being that I posted numerous times in this thread, I owe it to say what happened. 🙂
