Painting some kind of "laminate" on aluminum

Alright, to make a long story short, I ordered an acetal Maze4 GPU cooler and received and aluminum one. I sent to back to be exchanged, and it was shipped out today. But let's say they send me another aluminum one...

Since the acetal in an Acetal Maze4 is just a top (and since it's plastic it doesn't conduct heat very well), I assume it really doesn't have much use aside from keeping the water in the block. So I was wondering if it were possible that I could paint some kind of plastic laminate or lacquer on the aluminum to prevent water from ever touching it and causing corrosion.

I probably won't do this but I was just curious.

As long as whatever you put on the aluminum doesn't trap infrared radiation, it should be OK, but you likely would be reducing the already small contribution of conduction to the total cooling effort. It would be best to just leave the Al naked and let your anti-freeze solution protect the metal - that's part of its job anyway.

Well, I just use straight up distilled water, and my parents don't want me to use antifreeze (it's a mess if you spill it) in the house, so I can't really just use the aluminum.

And does the aluminum model actually work better than the acetal model?

Ahhh, nevermind, I got it in the mail, and it turned out to be the acetal version. It turned out that it didn't really fit with the ramsinks, so I sanded down the two ramsinks under the ports so everything fits now. Just to put it all together.
