I am no paint expert but I did paint my case about 7 months ago with good results. I used a very light sandpaper to scratch the existing paint and then gave it several coats of Krylon Spray Paint the more the better. I let it dry overnight between coats. I then gave it a couple coats of clear to help protect it. I think the key to a good paint job is patience take your time doing the prep work and let it dry good inbetween coats.

Well, it seems like this is a pretty commonly asked question around here...

Really take your time on the job. I'd say that is more important than anything else. Using several thinner coats is also a good idea, as it results in a nicer finish in general, and also takes less time overall to dry. You dont necessarily need to use primer, unless you plan on sanding the metal parts of the case down to bare metal. This isn't really necessary, but some people like to do it anyway. You will definitely want to put at least 2-3 clear coats to protect the paint well. Additionally, something I would recommend, that most people seem to not do, is to wax the case after the clear coats are dry using car wax. I did this to my most recent case, and it really helps to bring out the shine, and also helps to protect from scratching.

Good luck on your painting!

I just got my side panel cut and the bare metal is showing around the cut area.
I just spray the first coating of color and notice that it didn't even cover up the bare metal that good.
Should i continue spraying couple more coating or should i sand it and spray some primer first.

I would suggest the primer to cover the bare metal area. I just finished a case and was happy overall with the results. (Hope to do better next time). I sanded the whole case to the bare metal, primed and then painted. Patience is definitely the most important step. TAKE YOUR TIME!

Hope this helps.

My question is this...

Did everyone who has finished use regular spray paint (common type at the hardware store or use the automotive type? I used the regular type on my wife's case, along with spray on lacquer for finish. After drying, I waxed it and the shine is so-so at best. I used 3 coats of paint and 3 coats of lacquer. I was disappointed in the shine.
