Probably too late, but I love what I did with my knotty pine bookshelves (total DIY project, bought the wood at Home Depot). I researched shellacking knotty pine and followed it to a T. They are gorgeous and 10+ years later still look fantastic. So I made pine shelves for the pantry, cleaned and primed them. Now that I'm putting the top coat on, it's not covering, as if there's some oil on the wood. I've cleaned it and degreased it and it's still happening. Any suggestions?
