Painting my Drives

I just finished my Drives for my system to match my box. They were UGLY beige.
I starting with Vinyl Paint. But the color didn't match and since my case is silver metalic and the paint was flat gray it looked almost as bad as the beige. So I went and got some automotive silver metalic paint. So far it my drives look good and match closer to the color of my box. I guess I'll have to wait and see how it dries.
Anyone else have any experiences with painting? Any other tips to help improve color matching, quality, and consistance of the job. I had a tough time getting it to match completely..

if nothing else the vinyl dye makes a great base coat as it will stick to the plasitc well and the paint will stick better to it that to the bare plastic. I have just straight painted on some more textured platic with good results but yours is the better way, if the vinyl dye doesn't match well enough. The absolute best way to get everything on your case to match is to paint it all yourself, other than that i would have to say, take a side panel with you to the store to try and find the best match you can. jsut remember, you can't use paint stirpper on plastic but you can on metal.

On my silver case, I just made the drives black. I think it looks great. Trying to match colors would be a nightmare.
