Painting black components silver?

I'm looking to get an NEC 3540 burner. My case is silver and I've spraypainted all my beige components silver thus far to match. Having looked at prices online, the black NEC 3540 is cheaper than its silver and beige counterparts. So to save money, I'm thinking of getting the black version and then just spraypainting it silver.

I'm wondering if I will run into any problems painting the black faceplate silver, such as the silver paint not covering the black well. Has anyone here done this before and care to offer me any advice? Thanks in advance.

how much was the difference??

you won't get nice 'silver' out of black, so you might have to paint it white first, and then do silver..

well the black one is $42 shipped while the silver is $48. i think i will just go ahead and get the silver one for the extra few dollars and save myself the hassle of painting.

i had a feeling that painting silver over black wouldn't have a really good result.
