Paintball

I'm thinking of getting a paintball gun, so in goes "Paintball" to google, and I get Doro Paintball. I'm looking around, and I realize, its not as easy as buying a gun, hopper, paintballs, and mask. I need to know what kind of things I need to get with a budget of 150-200.

Being as cheap as I am, I just go out to the paintball fields and throw paintballs at the opponents.

I just throw water balloons filled with koolaid.

LOL, nice responses, but I don't think I want to go out to a paintball field just yet, I want to start out playing paintball with some friends in our subdivision, has a lot of woods, great hiding spots, we all want to pick up guns and all the needed equipment

You listed pretty much everything you need for paintball besides the compressed air tank.

Thing is, I'm lost in all the terminology and shit, its like trying to tell a n00b what kind of RAM they need, explaining the settings under the "Video" tab and why you can't just crank them up, etc.

I see, you could always got to Wally-World and pick up a case of balls and a gun package there...but I HATE those guns. Not that accurate and don't shoot as fast, but it is up to you and what type of paintballing you are getting into.

Well I'm pretty sure I want to get a decent, 80-120 dollar gun from a paintball store/website, and use the rest on getting a mask and stuff, but I don't know much about paintball guns, I've been hit with one before, and it didn't bother me much, only reason I never played before was because I thought it'd hurt.

There are plenty of Spyder clones out there these days that can be had for that price. The spyder is a great gun for starters (very reliable, easy to work on, and plenty of upgrades). Besides that a hopper, mask and CO2 tank are required. It can easily be had for 200 or less.

Definitely do your research and look into spending a little more for better quality. Very first priority would be a nice mask. Find one that is comfortable, and does not fog easily. Second upgrade should be a barrel. Read what barrels people like and dislike, and see what works for you. As for a marker, I always suggest the Spyder Xtra as a beginner gun. Get an electronic hopper, and a 20oz tank should be fine. I suggest Action Village for most of the gear.

Happy painting

Spyder Xtra, good gun, bad gun?

Can't really say anything about Doro because I've never heard of the brand.

The dilemma for beginners is choosing between Tippman or Spyder. Tippmans can take a beating, but I think Spyders are just better overall, since the Xtra can be easily upgraded and modified.

Doro is a store thingy, not a gun maker, I guess a Spyder it is, any recommendations on a barrel or hopper?

I have played paintball for 16 years and would tell anyone that has not played to find a local field and try the game first using rental equipment. If you still want to play then get your own stuff.

I started out with a Tippmann SL-II, then bought a Spyder and then my Mini-Mag. For people just starting I tell them to buy Tippmann markers. They work and take a lot of abuse.

My Spyder died after 3 years. My SL-II (16 years) and Mini-Mag (10 years) I still use.

On masks I would go to a local shop and find one that fits your face and head. It sucks going to play with a mask that you cannot stand to wear all day.

depends if you get a gun that'll do full auto semi-auto, you'd want a better hopper

For barrels I like smartparts All American. They are quiet. I was mainly an outlaw player until the forest I would play at burned down due to a Colorado Forest Ranger decided to burn a letter illegally.

Hopper I still use a Revilution

I would get the Spyder Victor II ...if you want an electronic trigger, then check out the Spyder E-99 Avant.

For gear, I pretty much always use pbgear.com/actionvilliage.com(same site) and pbnation.com for research, etc.
