Paintball Help

Each time I go paintballing, I have to rent all the equipment and buy paintballs from them and such. Usually this comes around $70-80 for me. I was looking around one day and saw that 2000 paintballs usually goes for about $40. The paintball center of course charges much more at $100.

I realized that since I've gone quite a couple of times, I could've saved the money on rentals and buy my own paintball equipment (guns+masks etc) with paintballs and save myself money. Which comes for me to ask; Are there any paintball players here that know where I can get a pretty good semi-auto gun? Any good deals around?

I tried looking and there were too many brands and too many different types of guns to even take a stab at.

Any linkages with good starter guns that I can use occasionally would be greatly appreciated. Any other tips on masks, co2(??), paintballs and such would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again! 😀

look for a PMI Pirahna or a Tippman model 98, both are great starter guns and are easy to find. If you have an Oshman's near you check there they have a decent selection of paintball stuff for a non specialty store.
Its been a while since i have played, but i remmeber PMI and Diablo paintballs were decent for a good price.
as you probably know already stay away from anything brass eagle.

CrackRabbit

Anubis, it sounds all great to me, but yeah, I'm a starter and I don't think I can justify myself shelling out $600 for stuff I don't even know about. 😀 thanks though!

CrackRabbit, I'll look into those. Any recommended online retailers?

I had a Piranha something Pro.
I don't quite remember because it was such long time ago.

It was one of their best models with the Mako Electric trigger and some other goodies I dont remember 🙁

Cost me $250.00 for the gun

Paintball Gateway is a good source for paintball equipment. Good starter gun would be a Spyder Shutter or Tippmann Model 98. A more advanced gun is the Autococker (more pro players use this because of the infinite amount of upgrades they have) you can fine tune it however you want. I loved using my old autococker when I played speedball. If you're looking for a good mask I would go with JT Flex 7 or JT Spectra 260.

Dayam Anubis, that's quite a setup.

Back on topic: www.actionvillage.com was the best for me. Here's a quick list of things to get for a beginner:
Marker - Spyder Xtra
Loader - Odyssey Halo
Elbow - PMI Evil Smoke Stack Spyder Straight Adapter (not necessary; can go with plastic ones)
Barrel - 14" Custom Products 1 piece
Goggles - V-Force Shield
Tank - 20oz CO2
Drop Forward: Custom Products Spyder Flame (not necessary; can go stock)

I think the Spyder Xtra is the best marker for its price. The absolute (and very first) mod you should get is the barrel. The elbow, loader, and drop forward aren't necessary; you can go stock and stick with the plastic things. Goggles and CO2 tank are necessary, duh 😛

Few comments. Yeah, pump guns should be avoided unless you're a hardcore 😉 Pick up a semi-automatic first, then move on to full automatic/electronic markers as you move on.
Don't buy a setup unless you're going to be sure you'll be paintballing frequently (4+ times a month?) otherwise just use the rentals
