if you went through all this prep/excersize/research/supply purchasing for a 1/2 day of paintball, i'd be afraid to see what you bring on a 2 week vacation!

Considering how some of the guys looked at the end of the day I was lucky. Of the entire group we had two hits that opened skin and one tennis ball sized lump on the arse.

Um WTF, were they chrono'ing the markers before you played. Geez, I must have played about 2 dozen times and the ONLY time I have ever seen skin break is when I overzealously tagged my friend in the back at practically point blank range.

Why is that? I stopped playing about the time those were coming out and been out of paintball for years, so I have no idea what became of that.

The two breaks occured at the same time to two folks. It was a center capture flag style game. We were on a small field called "tunnels" or some such. Basically it was a bunch of 10' mounds on top of 10-12' sections of black corragated pipe. The two guys ended up right on top of each other circling one mound taking snap shots at each other. It took them a while to land a body shot... so none of the arm shots counted. And those were the ones that broke skin.

The arse lump was a 20' or so shot, nothing special at the time. All guns were chronoed multiple times during the day.

I've been playing paintball for a couple of years but the novelty has worn off quite a bit to the point where I'm thinking about selling all of my stuff and getting out of the sport. Almost no one I know plays woodsball anymore, they're all spoiled kids with $1K guns that their parents bought for them and they play speedball all the time, which I hate. Oh well. Glad to hear you had a good time, Skirmish woodsball fields pwn and I love playing there. Too bad it's a tad expensive for field paint, but otherwise great stuff.

Speedball is boring, imo. It is a lot more exilerating crawling through underbrush, sneaking up on the opposing team, not knowing if they have someone up in a tree taking aim at you right at that second.

Why did the arm shots not count? You were playing some wierd rules.

Well, after playing paintball for 5+ years in a "non-speedball" environment, I decided to go to airsoft. So, unless you are playing speedball, play airsoft instead. "Woodsball" (Paintball in the woods) SUCKS.

Also, for your goggles, see if you can get some that say that they have thermal lenses. I have some JT goggles that have thermal lenses, and they rarely fog.

Also, if you do what I did, and play airsoft instead, the good news is that you will have goggles already, as paintball goggles work as airsoft goggles.

woodsball rocks! way better than speedball.

If you enjoy it playing paintball, then you must try it on an airsoft field. It is much more realistic, cheaper, and the balls dont break on branches.

I agree I am really into Airsoft now... MILSIM is way more in depth and more fun..
realistic guns and mags... radios.. BDUs Combat rigs... night vision goggles and scopes alot more fun... they make sniper rifles, support weps, SMGs and regular assault rifles.

so there are multiple roles on the battlefield..

makes for much deeper games.

plus real gun acccessories work on my airsoft guns

I have no idea. That's how the ref started the day. Anything below the elbow and anything below the knee didn't count as a 'kill'. It seemed to make sense so we all played that way.
