Paint scratched off bumper

My wife backed into a tree when parallel parking needless to say the paint on our 2003 civic bumper is scratched. What are the 2003 civic bumpers made out of? I'm wondering if it's metal, if so i'll need to repaint it to prevent rusting.

Enh, isn't that what bumpers are for? To take the occasional bump? We have a relatively new 2002 ride as well. Chips of paint coming off the sheet metals I care about, because it can cause rusting. But bumpers are made of plastic, and that's their purpose, so I care less of it getting dinged.

The Honda civic is made in America. I think most of the japanese cars i've bought were made in America. I think my last "American" car was made in Canada.

my 99 civic has plastic bumpers...its not a big deal but if u want u can get touch up paint but I wouldnt bother unless its black

A lot of the people here can't even take a crap without checking in here first and you have to ask this question?
