I'm guessing about 4 years ago I bought a gallon can of Jasco Premium Paint & Epoxy Remover at Home Depot. I don't know that I had a particular project in mind at the time, figured I'd have uses for it by and by and placed it on the floor of a downstairs bedroom that I have converted into a workroom. I'm pretty sure I never removed the can's top.
The floor is a rather typical hardwood you find in older homes (this house was built in 1910). I now see that the can has somehow, for some undetermined reason, begun to leak somehow. I see what I assume is paint remover on the floor next to the can, maybe about 2-3 tablespoons of it.
The room remains cool all year. Well, with the warming trend, I'd say it almost never gets over 75F, likely stays under 68 for 350 days/year. It's been under 60F all winter.
I'm wondering how I should proceed with this. I have a now empty gallon can of Jasco Termin-8 Wood Preservative. I could clean out any residue in that can with, I suppose, paint thinner, even an acetone rinse. Can I pour what's in the paint remover can into that empty can, say, using a big plastic funnel? Would a similar problem develop? Or can I pour the paint remover into glass bottles? Are there reasons that wouldn't work? Is the stuff light sensitive? I could keep the bottles in a low light environment.
The other problem is what to do about the paint remover that's on the hardwood floor. Just mop it up with water and let it dry for the time being?
Thanks for help!
