Just came in to post about this. Excellent update, I'm very excited about the huge change list. I have Photoshop CS3 but I use Paint.NET far more often because of it's short load time and small footprint.

This has to be the best endorsement of Paint.NET I've ever seen !!

Despite my aforementioned critical remark. I too love Paint.Net it's one of the fastest image editors I know. And for me at least waaaaay more usable than the gimp.

Does anyone know of a quickstart guide to using this? I prefer to learn about using it while offline but i cant seem to find any decent guide.

I don't have the link now, but if you go to their online forums, I think you'll find a flash tutorial that you can download. I found it very helpful !

chronodekar ,
If you find the link eventually please let me know, Ive been over the forums and cant sem to find this stuff 🙂
Thanks,

I wouldn't even know how to teach someone how to use it. I learned how to use Photoshop all by myself without tutorials.

Is there no middle ground with image editors? You have the ridiculously overpriced Photoshop, and then the free Paint.net. Feature-wise, Paint.net stands on its own pretty good. Photoshop has only a slight advantage here for everyday use, and yet a HUGE price difference.

Gimp, but I find it difficult to use. I'm not really a picture guy, so I find it especially confusing. You could try Gimpshop also. That's Gimp with an (allegedly) more intuitive interface.

If you do mostly photo editing and not creative work then Photoshop Lightroom is an excellent compromise for a very reasonable price. If you think there's room in the market for something in between PS and Paint.NET then you should go ahead and create it. Personally I don't think the price of Photoshop is unreasonable.

Is Lightroom really dumbed down like those other "photo editing" programs you can get at B&Ms (like you click on a button that says red-eye reduction then you click on someone's eye and it "fixes" it) or is it more fully featured?
