I just got a black case, and need to find a way to paint my CDRW, DVD, and floppy drives. I have read up on some paint to use, but I was wondering what is the best. I cannot spend much on this.

I was thinking spray paint, but will that type of paint chip eventually?

Also, I'm looking to paint the drives dark grey becuase I think they will look cool with the case. Any ideas?

there is vinyl dye that you can spray onto the plastic. it actual seeps into the plastic instead of staying on top of it like spray paint. you can pick some up at any car accessories shop or even walmart. one can goes for about $3 at walmart. i've only seen it come in black and grey. ive used the black to paint my drives and they turned out well. some advice: shake the can very well and get the paint warm. try soaking the can in hot water prior to using, otherwise it comes out blotchy. hope this helps.

any idea what the "spray on dye" is called? I called WalMart, and they had no idea what I was talking about :)

Someone also suggested using dye that you have to boil, but couldnt that melt the bezel?

It's labeled as 'Vinyl Dye'. Check the car accessories section at Wal-Mart, or a Kragen or Pep Boys should have it. Color choices are pretty limited, I've only found grey, blue, red, and black.

If you have an Auto parts store get there and buy Vinyl Dye. It actually paints plastic the correct color and Best of all is not going to wear off.

1. Clean your Bezel or whatever in warm soapy water. DON"T IMERSE THE DRIVE IT WILL NOT WORK!!! LOL
2. Rinse throughly.
3. Dry it off.
4. Use light coats (2) and it will look muy bueno. Use heave coats and its gonna suck
5. Here you go this is my Monitor, Keyboard and Bezel of the Antec case.

I did the entire monitor, I did remove the caseing BTW. THe keyboard wrist rest has not worn yet and it has been a while.
You can even seach for that post in the archives search fro vinyl dye.

i used rustoelem brand black paint works great looks good. Hard to scratch after 2 or 3 coatings. Leave 1 hour to soak in after each coating.
