good deal :) i pre-ordered mine on steam..sux though, i already own painkiller/expansion/overdose on disc...but for a few bux more..seemed logical.

Dreamkiller is a very similar title. was cool, though short lived. game was like 8-9 hours i believe

I never got the expansion so I might pick this up for the whole package.

nice! I pre-ordered on steam too. I had the original painkiller at one point but I don't know what happened to it. I'm having a blast playing it again while waiting for resurrection to come out!

For those who haven't seen it:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/39559/
Includes: Painkiller: Black Edition (original + Battle out of Hell expansion), Painkiller Overdose, Painkiller: Resurrection for $26.99 if you pre-order

Played the demo and it seems to have some visual bugs. For reference I have a Dell 518, Vista Home Premium, 4870, latest drivers.

When you first start the game, there are some waterfalls/mist effects going on. Some of them work, some look like big orange squares. At another point, you can look out over a landscape from a cliff. If I look straight ahead, it is looks like mountains covered in fog. However, if I turn just a little bit to either side, the shapes of buildings pop up.

Also, the indestructible mode (forget what its called) that happens when you collect enough energy/souls from the bads guys you kill, is completely unusable. It is hard to explain what the screen looks like, an extremely grey/blurred image with no recognizable detail, but the end result is you can't see a thing. Once the effect is over, the image returns to normal.

The game engine itself seems rather dated. Enemy AI is quite bad as well. There were a couple of spots where I was firing at enemies and they just stood fast and did nothing, I took a couple of steps forward and then they suddenly started firing back.

I going to pass on the Steam preorder. Maybe the demo is an earlier version of the game. Hopefully the full version won't have the visual problems. If it does, I will wait for a patch before buying.

Lolol, I just love that title it's like the one of creators said:
"Shit, Painkiller is already taken. Alright, let's call it Dreamkiller."

You know this isn't even made by the original devs right? It was given to some no name Austrian studio by the publisher.

It shouldn't be too difficult to at least make a better Painkiller than Overdose, that one was so much of a failure that even a "no name Austrian studio" (which by the way is called Homegrown Games) should manage something superior, even if it's not better than the original or Battle Out of Hell. As for the original developer, People Can Fly, I haven't heard of them ever since they gave the green light for the development of Overdose (which probably affected their name if anything).

i played teh demo last night..it was very un-original. Seemed like i was playing PK again. The stake gun seemed less effective here though. the environments,at least the level i played were small and narrow. unlike most of PK, where you have open area's to kill everything

The fact that it says Work in Progress at the top and bottom of the demo doesn't tell you anything?

dont be stupid...the game comes out in less than a week.. what could they possibly do to make it look any different. other than a complete overhaul.

:facepalm; Don't be stupid.

Work in progress = they used an earlier build for the demo.
