specs: 3.06@3.4ghz P4. 1gb PC3200DDR ram. ABIT IS7. Geforce 6800GT using 65.xx drivers. WindowsXP SP2 (DirectX9c) SM3.0 enabled in drivers.

I have no problems in any other game but this one gives me white lines periodically for no reason... it even happens in the menu, especially the menu when i first run it then occasionally in game. I have no problems with Doom3/Farcry running them for hours on end. Anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?

How did you manage that?

any suggestions?
Try running your system at stock speeds.

I probably should have said I've already done that. I also rolled back to WHQL official nvidia drivers and no change. I guess I thought that if you knew I could run farcry and doom3 for hours on end without any problems, you might figure this is not an overclocking problem. My mistake.

I thought that you knew that overclocking is never guaranteed?

Have you patched the game to the latest version?
Have you tried the 61.77 drivers?

1) yes, should have stated that too.

2) Yes

Overclocking is never guaranteed, but when obviously more intense games fail to show any signs of artifacting after SEVERAL HOURS of play as I mentioned in my post, logic would dictate that a gimpy sub par graphics game like painkiller would not be any problem. It looks like I was right as well, because as I said already I've tried stock speeds, no change.

Actually no, it wouldn't. Overclocking is not "if it works in game X and game Y then it must work in game Z". But that's really beside the point, given you've tried stock speeds.

Do you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system?

This may be platitudinous since you seem to know your shiznit, but have you tried with V-Sync disabled and enabled?

One, Painkiller is not a "gimpy sub par graphics game".

And two, all games react differently to OCs. Have you tried underclocking or opening the case to get more cool air just as a test?

Yes, I have tried underclocking, and I already said that. I can literally run any other 3d game for several hours and not have problems.

No, I'l ltry that but it's not the horizontal tearing that you are thinking of, at least I think it's not.
