Painkiller Is Making Me Fall Asleep As I Am Typi

After having three surgeries in six months, I had the hydromorphine which didnt do much but put me to sleep (on a drip in the hospital) and hydro which is also effective for low grade sustained pain.

When I went in to have my leg bone repaired the Norco injections seemed to have the greatest impact. It quickly took away the pain, left you with a "comfortable" feeling, didnt make you drowsy and lifted your spirits (although your spirits were probably lifted by the mere fact that the severe pain was now gone). I could see that as addictive but you only get it at a hospital at scheduled intervals.

They are talking about making Hydro more restricted because of all the robberies that are going on. I dont think thats a good idea because you have to have something readily available to do the job without too much red tape. There are too many people that need the prescription to make it more restrictive than it already is.

If anything, make the pharmacies keep that and all other perscription pain relievers in a safe and put the employees in a bullet proof enclosure. These methods do a pretty good job for banks.

I think the thing of methadone is that it lasts a long time compared to other meds. Anyway, how is the pain relief compared to other drugs? I've had plenty of oxy, morphine, and hydro for my back. I've even been given fentanyl a time or two (for taking the edge off during steroid injections).

Oxy was the strongest and worked, but I started to rely on it more than I should have. These days I just stick with naproxen and get vicodin on the rare occasions that I really need that extra help.

OP you trying to build a case?

She can get you that TENS unit easy...out of the profit she will cover the one's that don't get approved so she can bill out more.

She doesn't get the money for these things, only for the visits. Build a case? What?

SlowSpyder, yes it lasts a long time and that's why I am on it. The problem is you have to be very careful about taking your doses on time otherwise it may build up and you will get a larger dose than expected.

FelixDeKat, unfortunately it isn't. She could have given me an injection but it would have to be done under fluoroscopy and it MAY last two months. And these are the types of injections that are limited so it wouldn't be worth the risk/benefit.

Winner! When she said methadone I had to do a double take, but apparently it's being used primarily for pain management these days. It's good because it deals with the pain pretty well and you don't get that "high" feeling like you get with most narcotics.

The stigma is still there though, when they say it louder than a dull whisper at the pharmacy I want to crawl in the bag with it and hide. I figure that everybody in earshot thinks I'm trying to get off of heroin.

Damn it feels good to be a gangsta

The only reason I asked is because I am starting to deal with chronic mild-moderate pain, and I try to take anti-inflammatories most days (or nothing if it's possible), but take low doses of opioids on bad days. I am only 21, and although I've had much more injuries than anyone my age or even 30 years old should have, I have a whole life ahead of me. It sounds like the OP is 30 years old?

And watch out with the Methadone, Paramedic. Some people can never get off that, withdrawals for weeks and post-acute withdrawals for months. Don't keep raising your dose if you don't absolutely have to. Just watching out for a fellow ATOT'er.

I think you should at least try the cortisone/painkiller shot. The bad is that it is temporary, and ages your body. But the good is very good if it works. An older person I know has herniated disks (MRI) and takes opioids maybe once every 2-4 weeks; she gets the shots twice a year.

I am 34 flipped a car at 16 first back surgery at 17 and have had 15 surgeries including back and hip replacement and I now take Methadone 30mg 3x a day for chronic pain, although it doesn't make me tired. Edit: I have also been on just about everything there is and this works the best for me at not being foggy and spaced out everyday all the time like some of the other meds have done.

You not only have a 980X but also 2600K as a rig. What do you do for a living like this?
