1. i am having discomfort in both wrists after playing an extended period of time. I have never had this problem before and I don't know why its happening now. could it be that my mouse is too small? its a dell mouse (xps style) that came with it.

2. Does windows 7 aero automatically disable when playing games?

3. Does windows 7 aero even effect game play when playing games?

4. why does bfbc2 have this extremely annoying bloom effect?

and 5. why does homefront look EXACTLY like bfbc2 but bfbc2 runs at half the frames that homefront runs?

1. Masturbate less

2. Yes it does

3. No it dosent unless your graphics card is ultra low end but aero switches itself off so its not a factor

4. No idea

5. Homefront is unreal engine 3 whereas BFBF2 is frostbite 1.5? so they have different engines and different system requirements. Destructible terrain is likely a major factor to why BFBC2 is more demanding.

As Maximilian said, they run on different engines. BF:BC2's engine has a LOT more destructible buildings and terrain; this strains the processor (not the graphics card) and there's no way to turn it down.

Really? They look the same? Granted, I haven't played Homefront, but it's hard for me to believe that it beats BC2's graphics (which are pretty stellar). On the other hand, they were also released a year apart, so... *shrug*

As others have stated, Bad Company 2 uses the Frostbite engine, a proprietary engine by DICE that is considerably more high-tech than anything Homefront uses. In BC2 there are destructible environments; buildings around you are collapsing, the maps are huge, and generally stuff is blowing up everywhere. It can definitely make your computer chug if you don't have the proper hardware. Because of BC2's physics the game is actually quite CPU demanding.

Find a good comfy mouse. If you had a prior mouse that was fine, find a nice one like that. Despite tracking superiority of several newer mice, ergonomics keeps bringing me back to the MX518. If you have changed keyboard, chair, or desk, that would be something, too. If you use a laptop, you are finally beginning to understand why they categorically suck as desktop replacements.

Only when compatibility settings are set for it to.

3. Does windows 7 aero even effect game play when playing games?
No.

4. why does bfbc2 have this extremely annoying bloom effect?
Why do half the games out there either have an annoying bloom effect, soften filter, or DoF? Hell if I know. If it's not a normal settable option, see if Google can help you turn it off.

no laptop for me. i probably just need a good computer desk or something... and an ergonomic mouse...

btw the unreal engine 3 does have destructible environments. they didnt use that in homefront though.

The destructible environments possible in Frostbite 1.5 far exceed those possible through Unreal Engine 3. But regardless, if Homefront doesn't use destructible environments the point stands.

thats true. but have you played the physx levels on ut3? theyre pretty...cool i guess.

no im just wondering if its really that big of a deal

I had 2GB with my medium spec laptop in 2007, C2D T7xxx 2.2ghz and a geforce 8600GT and even with that pretty lousy specs it was a drag. I upgraded to 4GB and all the thrashing went away.

2GB today would be unusable for me. 4GB+ is what you need now unless you run your games low res and low details which is a waste of time IMO, buy a console in that case 😛

It still doesn't quite measure up to BF:BC2. BC2 makes use of DirectX 11 and can use native anti-aliasing, while Homefront's still back at DirectX 9 and has no native anti-aliasing.

A mouse too small could lead you to play with your wrist bent at a bad angle. Another idea is to look at the hight of your chair, maybe raise it up or lower it to get at a more comfortable position to put less stress on your wrists.

Homefront uses DirectX11, 10, and 9 and supports anti-aliasing natively. so that nullifies the discussion of Directx11 being put into play. The unreal engine got an update, you should check out how far they've gone with it.

and to show how beautiful the environments can look on the unreal engine 3

Source is Dx9 and i use AA all the time!

As for BC2...no AA for DX9...

you know...that could be it. my chair is lower than it should be..

Check your wrist position like said above, don't bend it.
Don't slouch, etc. Taking breaks during PC use will also be good.

I would also recommend a better mouse. Go for a light-weight mouse like a logitech gaming mouse, G5. I bought mine for $30 it is super light.

I stand corrected. Eurogamer's DigitalFoundry left that detail out of their technical analysis of Homefront.
