Pain Under Lowest Right Rib during Cardio..

I'm having a small problem while I've been running lately. Usually I run about 10-15 min intervals. Sometime during my second piece I start feeling a sharp jabbing pain in the area underneath my lowest rght rib. Any idea what could be causing this?

You're body isn't used to it yet.

Control your breathing and keep on running and it'll pass shortly.

I had a friend who ran cross country who told me it was due to the sugar reserve in your liver being used up....but who knows.

Its a "stitch". You are just out of shape, don't sweat it and try to push past it as much as you can. Good Luck m8! 🙂

EDIT: I also remember that it can be helped by breathing in through your nose and then blowing out through your mouth like playing a trumpet.

I get the same thing during intense cardio. When I keep up a steady regime over a few weeks it lessens and most of the time never happens

Uhh fellas. You're misunderstanding. I've been doing cardio for months already w/ 0 problems. This is something that just cropped up recently. Its not the food either since I space 1-1.5 hrs between.

Have these months of cardio been the extent of your excercising? Even those in shape and run regularly would. I would get them years into cross country training. Seems the best solution was to start controlling your breathing better, but in a race, you just suck it up and run.

If it continues it *might* not be a bad idea to see a doc. I am 23 and just was told I need beta blockers because I get too much adrealine in my system when I work out. heh..

That said, you are probably ok 🙂 Even for me, it was only a preventive type measure. Said I might have a problem when I'm 40 otherwise...

My track coach back in high school told me this was a cramp due to not breathing properly and that I should slow down but run it off. Since then I regulated my breathing and have not felt that pain since.

I completely agree with this:

It's called a side stitch.

Control your breathing and hydration and work through it. If nothing you do alleviates the pain, see your doctor.

Thanks guy I'm going to stretch more, hydrate more and be more careful w/ breathing.

When you get it do what I said about breathing in and blowing out, it works. Also months of cardio does not mean you are in shape to handle the next step of intensity you are trying to take your workout too.

<<<<Has run a marathon and gotten these plenty of times when training the month before.
