Pain in nipple

During the past few weeks, I've noticed pain if I push down on my left nipple. It doesn't look any different from the other one, just hurts. I don't remember doing anything that would have bruised it either. The pain comes more from "inside" the nipple than on the surface of the skin. I'm a 25 year old male. Anybody have any ideas? I'm going to get it checked out if it doesn't go away in the next week or so.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. My left nipple was sore and tender, and was slightly swollen. I got ultrasound and even had a mammogram to rule out breast cancer. Turns out it was a condition called gynecomastia (sp?), which is basically just when the nipple in a male starts to grow. The doctors didn't have an explanation, and it went away after a few months. Chances are its the same for you.

Yeah it sounds like gynecomastia. I'd imagine at your age it is not a natural occurrence. If you're using any supplements you should make sure none of them have any hormonal impact. If you are using prohormones, this is probably it.

A few months ago I had pain in one of my nipples whenever I pushed down it, seemingly with no cause. Nothing was visible the first day or two, but after that, I was able to see what was basically a pimple/zit/white head kind of thing on it. I'm guessing some pores just got clogged there and this was the result. Anyways, it cleared itself up after a couple days and gave me no more problems. No idea if you have the same thing, but if nothing changes for you after a couple of days, it may be worth getting it checked out by a doctor.

Sounds like it MIGHT be the early stages of Gyno. As long as there's NOT a hard lump involved I wouldn't panic, but I would seek a solution in a timely manner.
You might try nolvadex if you think "testosterone supplements" are the root of the problem. Dostinex is preferred if you've been hitting 19-Nor products.
If no pharmaceutical supplements or prescribed meds (many cause hormonal fluctuations) are involved, then I'd see a doctor to rule out cancer. Just from memory I think 2% of all breast cancer victims are male - so don't dismiss the possibility.
Good Luck.

Update: Finally went to the doctor for this on Saturday because I've noticed a lump or cyst below the nipple in the past week or so. They referred me to a general surgeon who has the proper equipment to diagnose the issue. Appointment is on Wednesday.

That would have been today. How did it go?

No you are quite wrong. It seems to be normal and natural. It's just that it doesn't happen to everyone. I had the same thing happen to me in my both nipples when I was the same age as the OP. I didn't take any supplements, didn't do any drugs, etc...

I was quite scared because it's an embarrassing problem and I couldn't really ask anyone... When I asked my doctor about it, he couldn't come up with an explanation. He said it could be a hormonal thing, and is probably not serious.

My nipples hurt for quite a long time back then. I think it was an on and off thing for almost a year or so. Then it suddenly stopped and never happened again.

My advice is relax, and try to ignore it. It will go away on it's own.

Its never a good idea to relax and ignore the problem if its a chance its gyno.

Back from my appointment. Doctor isn't concerned (sounds like he probably thinks it's gynecomastia). Going back in about 2 months to make sure the thicker tissue patches aren't doing anything crazy.
