Pain in my foot with no apparent cause

Yes, I know I need to see a real doctor.

I have been experiencing intense pain in my left foot since about June. Specifically, it hurts at the very front part of my heel (the area right on the edge of my arch) towards the middle and arch side of the foot. It feels like it is really really bruised - like someone has whacked it really good with a baseball bat. Every now and then it feels like there is a tingly burn deep in the muscle.

I think this might be caused by a pair of work boots I started wearing around the middle of May.

Does anyone know what I can do to make this go away?

Check for possible Gout. A blood test could find elevated levels of uric acid crystals in your blood stream...

That probably isn't it. I had a physical in August which included a blood test. Nothing unusual was found then.

Hmmm.. is it a stabbing sensation or a dull pain? Where on the foot is it located? Have you done anything physically out of the norm within the last few weeks?

**EDIT**

Nevermind the pain location.

Generally it is a dull pain, with the occassional deep burning sensation. I've been on my feet considerably more than normal since the middle of May.

Possible Gout. Get some Iodine tablets and try it, eat less salt.

My wife and I add virtually no salt in our foods, and a lot of what we eat are fresh veggies. I doubt this is it.

I have gout and what you describe is not gout as others are suggesting.

Gout:

1. A form of athritis.

2. Has a genetic cause.

3. Will attack both the big toe joint and/or the ball of the foot.

4. Foot will swell to proportions only dreamed of by FX artists; heat radiates off of foot like a fever.

5. Excruciating pain - I'm not kidding - where laying a sheet on said area is painful; don't even think of putting a sock on.

6. Brought on by diet with too much fat. Fat is crystalized in the joints like microscopic small particals with sharp-like nedle projections.

7. When crystals deposit in joint the body thinks it is being attacked and the white blood cells go to town. In essence your own body is attacking itself.

* If it occurs enough times you can be permanently crippled.
