One of the partners at my brother's law firm drives an old honda he has had for 15+ years. He just doesnt care about cars so why spend money on something expensive when his honda works perfect?

He does have a nice house and takes quite a few nice trips each year so not like he isnt spending his money. But his money spending priorities just arent towards his car 🙂

As for car payments.....My next truck payment is due August of 2013 Oo. Silly finance people didnt ask for a down payment so i just took the money i had and applied it right away. $15k was apparently 2 and a half years worth of payments for me 🙂 of course i still pay monthly and still pay more than the minimum payment amount and i always planned to pay more than what the month rate is anyways. I just dont have to worry if i want to skip a month now (which i wont)

I had my car paid off for a few years now and it runs fine but is a 2 door. When kid number two comes around I'll have to sell it for a sedan. Seems like such a waste to buy a new car and take on payments again.

Not having a car payment is so very nice. In 98 I bought a new car and paid it off in 3 years. In 2007 I replaced that car and paid it off in less than a year.

I can't see myself going into debt for anything other than a house at this point. No debt FTW!

The deal is many of the wealthy have 'older' cars, however; almost none are driving beaters. Most bought the cars relatively new and have maintaned them. They still have a nice fit and finish.

It's worlds apart from the dude bragging he picked up a $500 'ride' 'cause he be smart and shit to let his money work for him.

I don't know what not getting a down payment has to do with anything though....the more you finance the better it is for them.
