Paging Rossman: is this webhosting deal too good to be true?

Usually "unlimited space" deals really aren't so unlimited and are too good to be true or come with some hidden limits or very low bandwidth limits and start charging you out the wazoo. I have nothing to say directly about this host but that's been my observation (I believe Rossman had a FAQ about this somewhere).

for some reason, i'm on 'the plan' but it's not yearly for me - it's 6 months for me. i am happy with them, but i am more happy with dreamhost because of the space and the gallery2 install i have on it. 🙂

DreamHost is definitely a better deal but I prefer Addaction's cPanel and support.
 
Wow, never realized just how good DeviousTrap's prices were. :thumbsup: Can't go wrong with him, and his service is superb.

I just wanted to chime in on AddAction. I'm a HUGE fan of theirs! I've been using their hosting for about 3-4ish years now.

Their support is really good. I actually sent in a CS ticket and was complaining about their plans becoming much less competitive when compared to quite a few other respectable hosts and their response was basically, "What would you like for your plan to be then?" I told them and I now have 3GB storage, ? bandwidth (more than THEPLANPRO), and some other upgrades (20 databases, 8 domains, and not sure what else). I'm paying something like $80 every 6 months and am very happy with this. I think I'm basically paying for THEPLANPRO's price but for about 3x's the storage plus other things (THEPLAN wasn't quite cutting it for me anymore). When they asked me what I recommended, I basically told them that I'd be happy to increase the amount I pay them from THEPLAN to THEPLANPRO but I wasn't happy with the limits of THEPLANPRO and wanted much more, and less than 24 hours later I had much more! They were VERY reasonable about it and very nice about it!

I've also had several other dealings with their tech support and all of them have been handled and resolved very quickly. The only problem I have is that you MUST use their online helpdesk system for tech support - no 800 number with 24/7 support. But their helpdesk people are always quick to respond - much better than 99% of all other online helpdesk systems I've used.

Thank you for your review. I was a happy customer of addaction.net a while until I closed my account. They have hosted PlanetHzl.com for over a year and have been reliable 🙂
 
I found Bliksemhosting on Webhostingtalk about 1 1/2 years ago. Decent pricing, and unbelievable support. They have online chat, fast tech support via email, etc. And the staff is friendly. I have nothing but great things to say about these folks (NOTE: I have no connection with them at all except that I host through them)

I actually went with a cheapo host a few years back and got really burned -- if you always remember that the company has to make a profit, otherwise they'll disappear and leave you hanging....

I need SQL 2005 and ASP.NET 2.0 and most cost more than I'm will to pay.
 
I can vouch for Cernax.com

It's run by some Anandtechers and the support was simply amazing. Anytime I had any issue (which was rare), I'd always get a response within an hour or so and they always went way out of their way to help me out. The pricing was pretty good as well. And as azoomee stated above, I have no connection with them at all except that I hosted through them 🙂

I guess the real question is what are your needs.

Also I use it as well and it has been pretty damn relaible.

i think we have had one day of dawon time in the two 3/4 years I have used them !

FYI - AddAction.net is Linux only, they don't offer Windows web hosting AFAIK.

I have a resellers account through JodoHost.com and will be offering free Windows web hosting in the next week or two.
