Pages are displayed incorrectly

Many threads with 20 to 30-ish posts have 2 pagesand when i click page 2, it turns out empty while the bigger ones have almost twice the pages. Can you fix this Zuni?
 
If I am logged out and at the first page of the Hot Deals forum, this thread Toshiba E335 $125 AR at amazon shows as having 39 replies with a choice of 2 clickable pages. Clicking on page 2, however, results in a page with no replies as all 39 are on page one. If I am logged in, the same thread shows with only one page available.

I imagine that all this has to do with default forum settings, but if they are set for 50 replies to a page, I don't know why the thread listing page shows 2 pages for 39 responses.
 
screenshot of both it displaying the page numbers and the blank page would help, as well as the browser version and bgeh what you have your replies per page set to in your options. I have not seen this with opera 7.11 or IE 6SP1 with my replies per page set to 100.

however I have seen this when there are 100 replies page 2 is already created however there arn't 101 posts so nothing shows up on that page.

This happens more frequently when you are not logged in and using the forum defaults.

I just logged out, went to Off Topic and about 10 of the threads on the first page had a 1 & 2 next to the topic. When you clicked '2' you got nothing.

But why don't the forum defaults match up? Why does it show 2 pages when only one exixts since both items should be using defaults?
