pagefile: should it be on a non-boot drive?

if i have another HD, would i gain performance if my pagefile was assigned to that drive instead of the boot drive?

in gaming mostly. i have my game installed to my boot drive and was thinking the HD should be busy enough for loading games, the load should be taken off and given to another HD?

You'd gain some performance, but I don't know that you'll really notice a difference. If you're going to put the drive in anyway, why not?

Please use the search for this topic. Several members here are contemplating the death penalty for posters asking about pagefile performance. 🙂

In theory, putting the pagefile on another drive (that isn't going to be used at the same time as anything else) is better.

In practice, it is unlikely to make much difference. Any hard drive has a response time thousands of times slower than RAM. If you are hitting your swapfile frequently, you need to get more RAM or run fewer programs at once.
