I have upgraded one of my machines from win 98se to 2000 pro and it works just fine. I then ugraded the same machine to a 40 gig WD and cloned the old drive over to the new one.
The problem is when booting the new HD I get a "no page file" and instructions on how to make it bigger but it will not boot into windows it just goes back to the log in screen. Any idea how to fix this? If it were win 98 I would just load the os over the top of the old one but not knowing anything about 2000 I am lost. I am logging in as administrator.
I put the old HD back in and it works just fine.

Thanks

If you want to just load a new os on top of your old one, you can do that with win2k... Have you tried logging into safe mode? I guess you could try that and just see if it works... I dunno...

When the screen that comes up with the status bar running across it, press F8. I like to press it a million times, just so my computer recognizes it... sometimes my computer will beep at me for pressing it so much - I just scream at it or something;

Safe mode won't help...the same thing (no page file) happened to me. You'll get the same error message in safe mode.

Best thing to do is boot w/ the Win2K CD, then select "repair" - this should rebuild your page file. Worst case, you'll have to reinstall Win2K....

Well I was unable to fix the problem. I just wrote 0's to the drive restoring it to like new and recloned the HD, the same thing happend so I done it all over again (a long process on a big HD" but before I rebooted I went in and changed the page file, rebooted and it seems to be ok now, I tried the 4 boot disk's but I could not repair the install, I could not even boot from the install CD. I hope it stays up this time.

thanks guys
