I wouldn't mind being held down by the lawyer after I got a few good shots off on a pedo. I would have laughed really, really loud the entire time and kept taunting the guy while he lay on the ground crying.

I have a serious question now, I'm not trying to start anything.

Is it just because the priest/highly religious pedophiles get the most attention, or is there a definate increase in the amounts of pedophilic priests and such as of late?

It seems like I hear about it more and more, but is there a real increase in such behavior, or is it just on the news more now?

Both versions are valid, just like color and colour, favorite and favourite, etc.

I suspect that the profession has (alas) attracted pedophiles for a long time- it is a position of power of children. The teaching profession calls quite a number of them as well.

I hope that this hypocrite gets a roomie who uses him worse than he used those little girls.

That's a very good point. Positions of power and trust would be ideal for this, I guess.

So you believe that the numbers over time were/are pretty consistant, just in the light more often now because of similar scandals? Or possibly an increase of pedophilia on a worldwide scale over time? :(

No, no, no - we need the "h". Without it we wouldn't have all the confusion about whether it's supposed to be "an honor" or "a honor" and, while we don't approve of extra letters, we're all for confusion. :)

I suspect that pedophilia has always been around- but back in the days where a girl got married at 16 or younger, the freaks could 'legitimately' do their thing.

I don't think that pedophilia is environmental. There's something wrong inside the pedophile. So I tend to doubt that there are more of them now, per capita, than there have been in earlier times. We just have much more access to information so we hear more about them.

Pedersty has been around for at least 2.5 millenia. Some of the Mediterranean cultures practiced it quite often, even with the same gender. Some marriages were consummated at very, very young ages. But now that are society is less patriarchal and more educated, we know that it can seriously traumatize children, partly because of social stigma, but also developmentally kids just aren't mature physically for that yet, much less mentally.

I tend to see pedophiles as more predatory than this. The fact that it messes the kid up later is probably not the first thing on the punchee's mind.

Noting the bolded part above: That is not necessarily an indication of pedophilia. People lose sight of the fact that pedophilia is the sexual attraction to children who have not yet developed secondary sexual characteristics, regardless of actual age. So having sex with a 14 year old girl is probably not pedophilia in most cases. (Not that it's "right", but it's not pedophilia.)

really??

"ae" is used to replace æ, just as "ss" is used to replace ß.

Both spellings are relevent, so lets not argue over that. :p
