I am on a roll today. 😛
I have a barebones machine (mATX case, PSU, mATX motherboard, CPU + heatsink) seeing little use that that I want to give to a relative back in my native land. I am traveling in a few days so I thought "I'll take it with me".
I am sure all of you have experienced the extremely poor treatment luggage receives at the airport. I would pack the barebones back in the original box of the case, still with the foam protectors. I am however worried if I should take it apart to ensure all the components survive the trip. I know the OEMs ship their machines assembled, but I doubt the UPS / FedEx guys treat the boxes like the regular luggage guys at the airport, where ripped bags or dented boxes seem to be the norm.
At the very least I want to take out the heatsink. Is it safe to leave the motherboard inside?
Comments appreciated 🙂
Thanks
Alex
