Packing list for ski trip?

So I have a school trip (for my gym requirement) to vermont in a few weeks.. I never went skiing before so I have no idea what to bring... The class is huge (700 people) so I did not get a chance to speak to my professor about this.. What should I bring? I'm a total noob so his packing list is pretty cryptic to me.. Here's what he listed:

-Proper Ski Attire
-Jeans
-Extra socks

That's an insanely vague list if you ask me.. What is proper ski attire? I'm buying a ski jacket tomorrow but do I need special pants or gloves or anything like that?

Thanks!

gloves
hat
socks - ski socks
skis
poles
ski boots
other boots
shoes
long underware
snow pants
jacket
fleece
neck up
goggels
head band

Gloves, snow pants, ski jacket, goggles, a beanie or other warm headwear, wool socks. $20 for food and anything else you need, money for a lift ticket. Skis if you have them, but I presume you're renting. You don't need jeans for anything.

700 people in a class? that's insane. notfred covered it pretty well. Waterproof snow pants are important as you will be falling a lot.

What mountian in vermont are you going to. You will want your face covered when skiing. Your hands and toes will also get cold if you stay out on the mountian for two long but other then that it shouldn't be a problem. Waterproof will be nice because it isn't that cold out right now so the snow will be wet.

You dont need goggles really. It just gets in the way.

Get one of those Tight Lycra shirts that keep you warm. Light Jacket that'll keep you warm and are easy to move in.

Some type of Skiing overalls. Double socks. and Nice set of Gloves.

I disagree about the goggles, unless this is your first time skiing. Once you start going faster the moving air really makes your eyes water.

I got them when I first went. Now I just wear a pair of shades.. Unless it's like snowing or something. I dont think goggles are neccessary.

Thanks for the replies guys - I'll be bringing this list to a sporting goods store...Yep, there are 700+ people going on this trip - my professor teaches 5 units with 150 in each unit (only one "class" was with the smaller group - every other class was in an auditorium)... And, yep, it's a required trip.. It's actually pretty cool - our grade is based 100% on our trip... We get a weeks worth of lessons and then I'm done with my gym requirement (and we had 5 classes during the year)...

walk the path less taken...stand out...be the talk of everybody during the trip

Ski naked

A additional bennefit is that you dont have to pack all that junk

Beer
Vodka
Gin
Rum
Tequila
Scotch
Bourbon
Whiskey
Mixers
Condoms

Unless of course you're one of the few people that actually intends to ski.

Damm, I wish my school or work or any place really...would have a manditory ski trip.

All this ski talk is really making me itch.....needs to be scratched.

A ski trip? Cool! Here's what I bring:

beer
bourbon
scotch

Oh, wait a minute, you want to know what NORMAL people bring...

I recommend lots of spare socks, some long underwear, some cash for food, and, of course, your ski equipment (are you renting ski's, boots, etc or bringing them?).

Make sure you get the right kind of socks, otherwise (no matter how warm the air may be) you won't be able to feel your feet for most of the day.

Sunblock and blistex (with SPF) are essential. You will get burned worse than you would at the beach if you don't put them on.

Everything else has been listed, but I just thought I would emphasize the above.

Oh, and whatever you do, do not give up. You will be falling on your ass your first day, just like everyone else does. Do not get frustrated, though, because you will learn more in your first day than you will at any other time during the week (even if it doesn't seem that way).

Have fun!
