Packing and shipping question

I have a cpu with no box that I need to pack and ship. What is the best way to do this where the cpu is safe?

try to get one of those little cpu plastic protectors, i have one laying here. Other than that...foam padding? I dont think it can hold a static charge, so you can probably sink the pins into the foam.

But by no means can i be held liable if it does hold a charge 😀

common sence = Protect the pins with a bit of polystyrene, then antistatic then bubbble wrap then hard box possible fit into a jiffy

didn't know if styrofoam would be safe or not, but I guess with the antistatic bag it would work

I had an OEM CPU sent pressed into a bit of foam padding, then put in a small card box (maybe a 2" by 2" by 0.5" or a bit bigger), and there were no issues.


On a vaguely related note: How much might it cost to send a CPU packaged in the manner best desribed in this thread from the US to the UK? ie: just proc with no HS, in a small box or plastic case or whatever.

If you can find some pink anti-static small bubble that would work. You can probably get away with putting it inside an anti-static bag, tape it, then wrap small or large bubble around it.

Do NOT use styrofoam! That's about the worst thing there is for creating static. Go to Radio Shack and buy some anti-static foam (if they still sell it - it'll be with the electronic parts - it looks like a black sponge).
