Packets vs Bytes in Local Area Connection Status

In Win2k/XP, when you double-click on your network icon, Local Area Connection Status comes up. In the Activity area, I have seen it show Bytes verses Packets before. Any ideas how to change from packets to bytes? I prefer bytes sent/received. Thanks.
