nevermind. i found the answer.

To use Nero InCD in WindowsXP:

1. Download ?InCD232Up.exe? available at http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm
2. Right click on ?InCD232Up.exe? after it has been saved to your harddrive.
3. Select ?Properties?, and select the ?Compatibility? tab. Select ?Run this program in compatibility mode for? and select ?Windows 2000?
4. You should now be able to install ?InCD232Up.exe? and will run under WindowsXP.

Download the trial release of EasyCD Creator 5.1 Basic.

Install and get DirectCD (5.02 IIRC)

Works straight out, no need to set compatibility mode.

EDIT: And before someone else makes the usual mistake, the CD-Burning capability that is bundled with XP is
NOT a packet writing application. It is a simplified "stage now, burn later" process that does not
offer some of the advantages of true packet writing.
