Well the FCC is getting its nose where it doesn't belong, and now Packet 8 is required to have E911 service. I have to log in to agree to their terms etc. It doesn't mention pricing, but it will probably cost, as it did before. I, personally don't want it if I have to pay for it. We have multiple cell phones.

Anyhow, when I log in, to agree to their terms, there is a check box that I can check off to say that I do not have a permanent US address. I suppose if I check this I can get out of the E911 service (if there is a charge, I would like to do this). Anyone have any more info about this? What are you other Packet8 subscribers doing?

I don't want to pay for it. I think I should have the choice. If the FCC starts making us pay for this on VoIP, we will later have to pay all of the other fees, and a $20 phone service will be $30+. SCREW THAT.

Also, we have multiple cell phones in the home, that's fine. This E911 stuff is unreliable crap through VoIP, they even make you agree that they have told you its crap.

You do have the choice. If Packet8 is requiring this and they're going to charge for it, nobody's forcing you to use their service.
