Sorry.. the line from the Honest Trailers was "Let's be honest, that movie was super dumb, but I can't wait for the sequel."

Brilliant Pebbles (from link above) was designed to take a missile out of the sky. The monsters are huge targets, no way they they can dodge shots coming in at Mach 7

Haven't had much time to read up on that yet, but one thing comes to mind with this... missiles are a whole different beast in regard to targeting. Unless we're talking about things like cruise missiles, most missiles are TBMs (tactical ballistic missile). If I had to guess, that Pebbles most likely works well because it is able to accurately guesstimate the trajectory of a missile to account for the delay from launch to impact. Regardless of how fast it's going, there's a ton of distance to cover from space to land. If there wasn't, satellite Internet would be much more alluring. :p

According to Wikipedia, satellites in LEO have to be above 300km. According to Google, Mach 7 is 2382.03 m/s (2.382 km/s). 300 / 2.382 = 125.94 seconds to reach sea level. Now, you could probably devise a way to keep the Kaiju locked in place, that could work out rather well, and the heat would cauterize the wound, which avoids spilling the blood. Although, keep in mind that Kaiju have two brains. ;)

Use the giant robot to hold the monster in place, then headshot from space.

Actually that sounds like a fun sequel!

Only if they get the Unreal Tournament announcer to either say "Heeeaaaadshot..." or "Monster Kill!" :awe:

it was a cool movie, I actually bought the 3D blu-ray combo pac when it was on sale. The dumbest thing was walking on the elliptical machine thingy to make the robots walk.
seriously, that's the best you can come up with in ~2020?

...as opposed to what we pilot our giant robots with now?

I thought it was alright. The problem was the hype leading into it. All they really showed in the trailers was short clips of the robots and monsters. That's fine in a sense because that was all anyone was watching the movie for anyway, but it didn't give anyone a sense of just how cliched and retarded the plot was going to be. All anyone knew was that Guillermo del toro was making a kickass robot monster movie. Naturally hopes were higher than the movie could reasonably be expected to fulfill. Still, it's an enjoyable watch if you turn your brain off for the duration.

Yeah, same. Hellboy 1&2 are both stupid movies, but they are awesome; great action, decent stories, and funny too. The humour in this one was really bad and the action was boring. Felt like I was watching a Michael Bay movie. :(

Honest Trailers was right about this, it's either the dumbest awesome movie ever made, or the most awesome dumb movie ever made.

I thought it was brainless, but fun to watch.

I enjoyed it. Visuals were good. Fighting was cool.

Then it lasted too long and I got really bored. If it had been 45 minutes shorter, I would have been happy.
