if logic were a concern i think there are a lot more effective ways to kill 20 story tall monster than punching them to death with diesel powered giant robots
When the first attacked didn't it take days to kill it?
I would assume using nukes while it's in cities would be a no-no so they used normal weapons.
if they equip every Jaegers (robots) with a sword then they can easily kill every kaju and ended the war already.
It's the same with Transformers, they fight, throw, punch etc, then at the end of the movie they take out a sword and end it quickly.
Much like..why didn't they fly the damn birds to Mordor?
because it makes for a short story

Why's alky's name misspelled in your sig?I don't care what the reasons, I think the movie kicked ass.
They couldn't use swords or any piercing or cutting weapon because the kaijus blood is acidic and ruins the environment. Also why no large scale guns were used, extra holes were bad. The plasma guns were ment to cauterize the wound at the same time as taking out chunks.
The only reason the sword was used was because of a do or die scenario.
Pacific Rim delivered exactly what I wanted in a movie about giant robots punching giant monsters. I regret not seeing it on the big screen, but will definitely be seeing the sequel opening weekend.
Why did it require two people to control it with only half their body, wouldn't one person be more coordinated and the Jaegers wouldn't be so stupid and falling all over the place?
But yea... giant robots... woooo
