Yep. His ignorance was shown in his last threads, after he claimed that NV cards ran the game faster than ATi cards because of the lack of VTF, and mocked ATi for their slogan of "SM3 done right". The lack of VTF has nothing to do with it, because the benches he linked, didnt even use it.

Then goes on to call names, and tell people they should have been aborted. Wow, a class act I tell you. Just the kind of admin we need. A bias, name calling, and insulting admin. How he has any credibility is beyond me.

Agreed. I've decided there are some people here I'm just going to ignore no matter what they say.

On topic:

1. ATI did originally state publicly VTF was an important component of SM3 they would support.

2. As I said, I misinterpreted the VTF comment by XBit. To me, running water detail 3 on PF was about as great as PF. (not very) It might make a difference to someone who enjoys the games.

Awesome. Weeks of punditry and misinformation leads to ... nothing. This, after Rollo went through the trouble of buying and installing the game.

Rollo, I'd offer to settle this, but only someone with a GF 6- or 7-series card can. We've got at least one (more) benchmark offer, so hopefully one of you many NV SM3 owners will let us know the IQ bump and performance hit of VTF-enhanced water in PF. Just to make it painfully explicit for the nth time, all we're looking for is brief benchmarking (ten seconds with FRAPS?) at a resolution high enough to minimize CPU limitation (I'd say 10x7 for a 6600, 12x10 for a 6800, 16x12 for a 7800, and 8x8 for SLI) with at least two settings: water=3 (default) and water=4 (VTF). AFAIK, 4 = VTF, 3 = standard NV (PS3?), 2 = standard ATI (possibly equivalent to 3 with the new dlls--PS2?), and 1 probably looks like glass (PS1.1?). No need for posting screenshots as there are plenty in the new dll link I provided, but surely taking some will help you analyze the IQ.

So, thread ender, at least test water 3 and 4, let us know how they look (compared to each other and to NV's PF + VTF screenshot) and perform.

keys, Rollo's been asked nicely for quite some time. apoppin's hassling him is nothing new to this forum, and just an excuse, IMSnootyO. Obviously, it's Rollo's prerogative to bench or not (hence my pleas), but I think he has something of a responsibility to end the endless chatter he started. He even got as far as buying and installing and running the game with water=3! All that was left was to edit one character in an ini file and trace a few camel humps over the ocean.

Rollo, again, I question this: "ATI did originally state publicly VTF was an important component of SM3 they would support." I'm not arguing about VTF's importance, just whether ATI has explicity stated they'd support it. Also (again), I don't think you saw VTF in action with water = 3. You might've seen SM3, but not VTF, from what little I've read.

Me, I'm footballed out. I'd appreciate some PF VTF #s, tho, to anyone so inclined (and TIA).

Uh-huh. So you supposedly promise us that you'll benchmark the game to get to the bottom of the issue. And, justifiably, you decide not to on the grounds that the game is too boring or it would take too much time. So someone else takes the offer you proposed, and is willing to pay you money to buy the game off you so he can benchmark it himself. Then, you decide to not let him buy it off you?

While it made sense that you yourself did not wish to be forced to benchmark the game, why are you withholding it from us, even when someone else offered to do it? As far as I can see, selling the game to someone else so they can do the benchmark would prove to be nothing but beneficial to you. Since you decided to keep the game (which you yourself said was boring and that you had no further intention to play it), and you decided upon this because people were flaming you, I can only assume that you believe that holding onto the game will stop Apoppin and possibly others from flaming you. I must ask: how, and why, do you think that it will stop people from flaming you? In fact, it would seem that your actions are more of a provocation than anything else.

I don't see the motive or any logical reason. While Apoppin's actions should hardly be ignored, I don't think what you are doing is going to help.
